Thomas Klim, MA, BS (Executive Director/COO)
Tom Klim has been with GI Consultants as its ED/COO since 2008. Tom has approximately 30 years of healthcare industry experience and has been in assorted mid to executive level management positions with several healthcare concerns since 1979. Tom has worked for multiple large mid-western based healthcare systems and payer organizations and has served on numerous boards and committees. Tom has both his graduate and undergraduate degrees from the University of Detroit/Mercy. As ED/COO Tom works with all GIC Administrative Directors and Providers to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of high quality healthcare services to all patients who access care at its clinics and endoscopy centers throughout its various Northern Nevada locations.
Marcia Shearer, BS (Chief Financial Officer/Controller)
Marcia Shearer joined Gastroenterology Consultants as Chief Financial Officer/Controller in November of 2005. Marcia is a financial professional with over 25 years in accounting/finance area and more than 15 years of progressive management experience in the healthcare industry. Specific healthcare experience includes acute care, sub-acute, psychiatric, rehabilitation, transplant, home heath/hospice, hospital-based and privately owned medical group practices. Marcia completed her undergraduate studies at Northwest Missouri State University and graduate coursework at the University of New Orleans. She and her team work with employees, directors and providers and are responsible for planning, organizing and directing of all accounting/financial aspect for all clinics, property companies and endoscopy centers.
Connie Brown, BS (Director of Operations)
Connie Brown has been with GI Consultants since 1997. She is currently responsible for a team of six supervisors, who supervise GI scheduling, front office reception, medical records, PBX, clinic-based patient care. Connie has been responsible for various building and operational projects with a current focus on new clinic service line development, improved patient access and patient satisfaction. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration and is a current member of the Medical Group Management Association and the Nevada Colon Cancer Partnership in Nevada.
Debbie Brown, CGCS (Director of Reimbursement)
Debbie Brown has worked for Gastroenterology Consultants since 1992. She started working part-time at GIC while attending courses at Career College of Northern Nevada. Debbie started out processing statements in the billing office, then moved to chart prep and helped out at the front desk. Once out of school Debbie was hired fulltime in the Billing Department posting charges, posting money and coding hospital and endoscopy center charges. She is now the Director of Reimbursement managing the Billing Department and has been in this position for more than 8 years. Debbie oversees all aspects of billing, coding, collections, authorizations, credentialing and the front desk billing staff at all locations for all of our clinics and endoscopy centers. Debbie is a certified coder in Gastroenterology.
Patty Kress, (Human Resources Manager)
Patty Kress has been with GI Consultants as its Manager of Human Resources since July 2011. Patty has over seven years of experience in the healthcare industry, and has been in Human Resources for over 14 years. Patty is a member of Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) and is a member of Northern Nevada Human Resource Association (NNHRA). As Manager of Human Resources, Patty oversees all personnel policies and procedures, recruitment and benefit programs for the more than 170 employees at GI Consultants.
Barbara Williams, RN, BSN (Director of Quality Management)
Barbara joined Gastroenterology Consultants (GIC) in March 2007. Her 25 year nursing background prior to joining GIC included critical care nursing, hospice case management and Nurse Director of Acute Care Services for a rural hospital. Barbara is the Director of Quality Management for GIC, overseeing quality and infection control for GIC’s three endoscopy centers and clinics. Barbara sits on two adhoc committees with Nevada State Healthcare Quality and Compliance Bureau, is active in Nevada State Healthcare Legislation and the Nevada Ambulatory Surgery Center Association.
Autumn Uyechi, RN, BSN (Director of Center Operations)
Autumn Uyechi has been with GI Consultants since 2003. Her nursing background is med/surg and Endoscopy. Autumn graduated with honors at the University of Nevada – Orvis School of Nursing. She is a member of Society of Gastrointestinal Nursing (SGNA), Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society and Nevada Ambulatory Surgical Center Association (NASCA). As Director of Center Operations, Autumn oversees the “operational aspects” of all three (3) Endoscopy Centers: Reno, South Meadows, and Carson. This includes but is not limited to staffing, equipment, scheduling, training, medical supplies, budgets, and vendor contracts. Autumn works with all GIC Administrative Directors, Providers, and Center Staff to ensure our Endoscopy Centers deliver high quality healthcare services to all patients of Northern Nevada.
Scott Waters, BA (Director of Information Technology)
Scott Waters started working with GI Consultants as the IT Director in 2007. Scott has over 10 years of operations and technical management experience. Scott has consulted on and managed a wide range of technical projects and teams for various healthcare groups in the Northern Nevada area. Scott has a strong technical background with extensive experience working with CISCO hardware, Sonic Wall hardware, all versions of Windows Operating Systems, VOIP phone systems, EMR and Laboratory Information Systems, and various report writing applications such as Crystal Reports. Scott has his undergraduate degree from the University of Nevada, Reno. As the IT Director, Scott works collaboratively with Providers and Directors across all departments within GI Consultants to create and maintain a stable, productive and cutting edge technical environment supporting the effective delivery of healthcare for our patients.
