GIC, Partnered with the Nevada Colon Cancer Partnership at Aces Baseball Stadium
On August 22, 2010, the Reno Aces stadium drew a full-house crowd for the “Strike Out Colon Cancer” event. The Reno Aces vs. Tacoma Rainiers game was dedicated towards raising public awareness on Colon Cancer, the second-leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the nation. The event was initiated by the Nevada Colon Cancer Partnership, led by Dr. John Gray of Gastroenterology Consultants. The event was kicked off by the spoof entertainment of Dr. Poo and the Buttkickers, followed by the first pitch from a Colon Cancer survivor. The event also raised over $2,000 in raffle ticket sales and auction which will be used towards efforts in achieving the mission of reducing and preventing colon cancer deaths in Nevada. The abundance of raffle prizes were graciously donated by various local businesses and individuals who have partnered with or who are simply supporters of the mission of the Nevada Colon Cancer Partnership.
